Abstract: This seminar will focus on the joint effort made within the European Project TURNkey on structural identification and rapid seismic damage assessment based on the data obtained from the sensors installed on the buildings. Upon revisiting the basic structural dynamics concepts, the theoretical aspects discussed will be consolidated and enriched by using the elaboration of the data obtained from a large-scale shake table test campaign carried out at EUCENTRE laboratories and a few existing structures in Bucharest, Romania.
About the Speaker: Ali Güney Özcebe holds a degree in civil engineering (BSc, 2007) and a specialization in geotechnics (MSc, 2009), both obtained from the Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara. Between the years 2009 – 2013, he attended the PhD program in Earthquake Engineering at the UME School of Pavia. After he finished his doctorate, he participated in research and teaching activities at Politecnico di Milano and the University of Pavia. Since 2020, he has been working as a researcher at the EUCENTRE Foundation in Pavia. His main research interests include numerical analysis of geotechnical systems (also taking into account the soil-structure interaction), development and implementation of methods for the dynamic identification of soils and structures, rapid seismic damage estimation, and applied seismology.
